The Rehabilitation Center at Hunt Regional Medical Center provides high quality, innovative, compassionate care to hospital inpatients and (by physician referral) to the community through its outpatient clinic.

Fitness Center

The individual talents and skills of our highly competent, committed staff ensure that every patient receives the best rehabilitation program to meet their needs.

The Rehabilitation & Fitness Center is located on the second floor of Hunt Regional Medical Center in the Medical Pavilion. Enter the Pavilion through the rear doors - the center is to the right just inside the entrance. There is also an entrance directly into the Center from the rear parking lot.

Physical Therapy

Following a thorough evaluation, the physical therapist designs a program for each patient to restore function and mobility.

Therapy is provided in the following areas:

• Sports injuries
• Stroke rehabilitation
• Balance training
• Low back pain management with back school
• Hydrotherapy for acute burn and wound care
• Biofeedback for urinary incontinence
• Screening for risk of falling
• Pre-and post-operative orthopedic rehabilitation
• Massage
• Amputee/prosthetic training
• Wellness program

Occupational Therapy

The occupational therapist evaluates each patient to create a rehab program to improve independent living skills including eating, grooming, and dressing.

The program may include:

• Hand therapy for tendon injuries & fractures
  • Static and dynamic splinting
  • Scar management
  • Improvement of fine motor coordination
• Daily activity retraining after stroke or injury
• Orthotic training
• Arthritis management
• Energy conservation training
• Wheelchair evaluation
• Adaptive equipment training
• Neurological rehabilitation

Speech-Language Therapy

The speech-language pathologist specializes in restoring communication skills.

Programs are designed to ensure that each patient develops the best potential for functional communication.

Each patient is assessed for:

• Speech
• Language
• Hearing
• Swallowing function
• Cognition
