Hunt Regional Medical Center at Greenville
Emergency Department

The 21-bed Emergency Department, open continuously,
is a Level III General Trauma Facility. A multidisciplinary trauma
team is accessible at all times.
The Emergency Department's Emergency Physicians treat cardiac and
other medical emergencies and trauma from accidents or violent crimes.
RNs on the Emergency Department nursing staff have completed Advanced
Cardiac Life Support training.
The staff also includes nurses trained in Pediatric Advanced Life
Support and the Trauma Nurse Core Course. There are Certified Emergency
Nurses on the nursing staff.
Medical personnel from radiology, laboratory, respiratory therapy,
CT scan, nursing staff join the emergency physician and trauma surgeon
to comprise the Trauma Team.
American Medical Response Mobile Intensive Care Units transport
patients to the ER. Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians
can start performing critical emergency treatment while patients
are enroute to the hospital.
In the event of critical injuries requiring treatment at a more
comprehensive trauma facility, patients can be transferred via ambulance
or helicopter.
Patients with medical emergencies are treated without regard to their
ability to pay. If a person's condition is not a trauma or other medical
emergency, payment for services must be made before discharge.
Because critical cases are treated first, there may
be a wait in the Emergency Department for minor emergencies.
